TL’s Philosophy workshop
On Wednesday 22nd we are going to do a philosophy workshop organised by Mrs. Tagbe, our philosophy teacher. The workshop will consist in a debate which will be centered on the question « Are we defined randomly ?»
First of all, we have to be at school at 1 :30 pm to go to the Atelier Gourmand for a cooking session. It’s located in Prima Center . We will then head back to school with the dishes we will have prepared in order to start the debate at the CDI. It will be supervised by a few teachers including Mrs.Tagbe, the headmaster Mr Rousset and the CPE Mrs Kabas. There will be 54 participants coming from the classes of TL, TS1, TS2, TES 1 and TES.
The question is : Are we defined randomly ?
Hazard is a theme that always follows us. The word chance is the word that society attributes to things they cannot explain nor foresee. There isn’t any possible explanation to define everything that happens in our life, which makes us ask ourselves this question : are we defined randomly? From a scientific point of view, chance does not really exist. We tend to think nothing happens by chance. Humans are conditioned to be the way they are.
Next, we are going to have a philosophical debate with students of other Terminales for the DIY project. But « DIY, What does it mean ? ». DIY means to Do It Yourself. In other words, this is a project aiming at teaching students how to make a project , do research about it , lead it and organize it themselves (helped by teachers) in order to assimilate things more efficiently .
This project can be a chance for the students of Terminale to improve their speaking. It can also be a means of free expression. Furthermore, the project can help students improve their own knowledge in philosophy. It will be a good experience for every student to participate in the project for they will be debating about an interesting subject while giving their point of view.
We feel rather optimistic about the DIY Project. It’s a good way to promote TL since we are not as numerous as the other terminales . This project represents the TL’s ambition to be well-known around the school .We want people to talk about us as well !
